Why are we doing this?

Every night at 7:30 pm the neighbourhood steps outside and makes noise, thanking the frontline workers. It's magical.

There are people in our community who need more than noise. To keep us safe, they continue to work at grocery stores, restaurants, and daycares to keep us safe. Many did not choose to be on the front lines, yet they show up to support us every day.

Others may have lost their jobs, but contribute to your wellbeing by checking in to make sure you're doing ok.

Every day, these folks are working to make our days happier and healthier. It is time we did something for them.

Let’s show gratitude to our Community Heroes.

You can do more than just say “Thank you.” Let’s support those who support us.

One small act of gratitude can spread happiness throughout the community.

Let Community Heroes and their friends and families know that Waterloo Region cares with Thanks Collective.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still give if I don’t know the person’s name?

Everyone has trouble remembering names and that’s ok. It’s easier to remember where you were, what they did and how it made you feel. Simply write a short description of the person, date, and time and we'll go to the business to find the right person.

I received a phone call from Thanks Collective.

Thanks Collective reaches out to businesses on behalf of our community when not enough contact information is provided. We want to make sure that the right person receives their gift of gratitude. When we call, we will identify ourselves and provide you with a unique code to redeem at www.ThanksCollective.com. We will NEVER ask you for your personal information over the phone.

Can I give thanks anonymously?

Yes, you can. Your message and gift will still go through to the recipient. We’ll ensure that your identity remains anonymous.

Do you provide Customer Support?

Yes, we do! Please contact us at help@thankscollective.com. We will get back to you within the next business day.

How much does it cost?

Thanks Collective doesn’t charge a fee to keep the service running, improving or for providing support. When giving, you have the option to donate to Thanks Collective. Thank you for considering it. There is a payment processing fee charged by Stripe. As the person giving, you have the option to absorb it.

Isn’t it better to buy a gift card from the business?

Gift cards are a great way to support individual businesses you love. Thanks Collective is a way to recognize and give gratitude to the individual that has helped you. We want to give you a way to say thanks for them making your day and going above and beyond to help you.

Refunds

Once a gift has been given it cannot be taken back from the recipient. All transactions are final.

What happens if the business doesn’t allow their staff to receive my gift?

We will confirm with the business. If the business does not allow its staff to receive funds, even in these extraordinary times, the funds will be donated to a charity.

What charities do you support?

Who is the Thanks Collective?

Created by members of PicThrive, a local travel tech startup in Kitchener-Waterloo. After having the travel industry come to a halt by COVID-19, they were so amazed by the generosity, courage and support the community provided. They decided to use their powers for good and create something that would give back to the community.
